Before the development of the Emerald Coast Parkway in the late 1980s, the original route to Destin was Scenic Highway 98, which is located a little further east. The upscale neighborhood of Crystal Beach, which gets its name from the dazzling crystalline shore, was one of the first residential communities to be built here.
This posh neighborhood is made up of houses and opulent condos that are situated along the picturesque road that borders Destiny to the east and the vast Henderson Beach State Park to the west.
